It makes sense to shop for carrier service and bandwidth. Every carrier has their own private network available for resale, however, not every carrier can provide service or has capacity everywhere. When a carrier purchases availability from another provider to complete your circuit, the cost of that circuit goes up, and quite often, a carrier will use multiple providers to complete a circuit. The key is finding the carriers who will utilize more of their own network for your circuits...they will typically be the lower cost providers.
